"For in dryness and in barrenness, in sickness and in feebleness, then is thy prayer well-pleasant to me."
Julian of Norwich (Ch. 41)
What if sometimes when we try to pray, we are feeling nothing but emptiness, having lost hope, struggling to believe God is even there, just being sick and tired of it all? We may think those prayers don't 'count' because they aren't spiritual enough, are too full of doubt, negative emotions, and struggle. Yet God says that those prayers are well-pleasing to Him! He wants us to be real with Him and say exactly what is on our mind, even if that word is, "I am angry with You! I can't see You. I don't even know if You are real." Those prayers are well-pleasing to God. They are just the kind of prayers He loves to hear because they are the honest thoughts of His kids, and He hangs on our every word and rushes to help us whenever we have a need. So we can rant and rave and cry and sulk, feel everything or feel nothing with Him. He sits with us and feels all our emotions with us, and continually works to uplift us. We can relax because we can be completely honest and real with this wonderful Father and Friend!
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
A Prayer: Sometimes I feel like I am terrible at prayer. But You show me my prayers are perfect to You!
