Filled with His Spirit, Filled with His Love

When God poured His Spirit on us, He poured His love on us because God is love.  To be filled with the Spirit, then,  is to be filled with His love.

Alcohol makes people lose their inhibitions and feel free to be themselves and express themselves.  It makes them forget their problems - problems seem to fade to the periphery.  God's love (so therefore His Spirit) does the same.  His acceptance, grace and love free us to really be ourselves and be "bold, happy, and of high spirits" (Martin Luther).  Doesn't that description sound like a person affected by strong drink?  And problems fade into their proper place as He, unconditional love, is in full view.

The Holy Spirit truly IS a strong drink!  He is a river of living water that God makes to spring up and overflow in us.  He is the love of God that He has poured into our hearts.  That love is never ending, always sufficient, forever satisfying!

                            With love,
May the amazing grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, and the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. 2 Co. 13:14
