Near and Dear to God Himself

A mind at perfect peace with God,
Oh! what a word is this!
A sinner reconciled through blood;
This, this indeed is peace!

By nature and by practice far,
How very far from God!
Yet now by grace brought nigh to Him,
Through faith in Jesus’ blood.

So near, so very near to God,
I cannot nearer be;
Yet in the person of His Son
I am as near as He.

So dear, so very dear to God,
More dear I cannot be;
The love where with He loves the Son:
Such is His love to me!

Why should I ever careful [anxious] be,
Since such as God is mine?
He watches o’er me night and day,
And tells me, "Mine is thine."

I love this old hymn.  I love the way it talks about how near and dear we are to God.
We are just as dear to Him as the Son is!
And we are just as near to Him as the Son is!
He says to us - because of grace, because of the finished work Christ has done to reconcile us to Him - that all that is His is now ours!  "Mine is thine."  Beautiful!
May the amazing grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, and the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. 2 Co. 13:14
