Born Beautiful

I guess we've all heard stories of a girl who thought herself ugly who was transformed by the loving attention of a suitor.  Someone has noticed her and has seen in her what she can't see herself - her innate beauty.  She suddenly seems to blossom visibly and turns into a truly beautiful person.  Yet she was actually beautiful all along.  The true beauty she was born with was only hidden till someone came along and unveiled it through love.

I think that is what Christ is in the process of doing with His bride - all believers.  We have had years of performance-based living or shame or guilt that have weighed us down and hidden the true person underneath.  Perhaps we've been told all our lives that we are rotten sinners with evil hearts.  Perhaps we've felt unacceptable no matter how hard we've tried.  Yet Christ comes along and loves us.  He values us.  He affirms us.  He sees the beauty that's there in the new creation heart, and it makes His heart turn somersaults.  He loves and accepts us and sees something in us that we might not see.  He sees that we were born beautiful.  And in the presence of such unconditional love, our natural beauty just blossoms.

We're beautiful to Him.  We were re-born that way.  We're never ugly or shameful.  We're never a disappointment.  We're lovely and righteous and without a single flaw. When He looks at us with those tender eyes of love, He sees His beautiful bride!

                            With love,
May the amazing grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, and the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. 2 Co. 13:14
