What Jesus Is Saying to Us Through the "Washing of the Disciples Feet"

Jesus washed the disciples feet..what was He saying through that act of servanthood and humility?  I love what my friend Woolly hears Him saying to us in that act:

“You might not understand what I’m doing now, but you will, you’ll get it yet. See, a person’s feet get dirty from the journey that they are on, but not the rest of him/her. By what I’m doing here on this Earth, living and dying for you, I’m going to show you that you are already clean and that you’ll only get dirty from the journey that you’re on.
While you’re on your journey through this world you’ll feel pretty dirty on the outside, all of those outside bits, the bits that are outside of your heart, outside of that special place where we already are One. Those bits that are subject to the troubles of this world, your faults, your failings and how you feel because of your circumstances or upbringing or religion or culture, all of the things which are put upon you by forces outside of your control, they’ll all make you feel unclean, but you’ll come back to me and I’ll make you clean once again.
I want you to go and live and whenever you get dirty, go and find me in each other and let them clean you up once again, let them remind you of who you really are deep down underneath all the layers, all of the dirt. If you can, go and find me in a still place and remember who you are, who I say you are. And don’t worry, I’ll see you again, one day all the layers will fall away once again and you’ll plainly see that there was nothing to fear all along the way.”

Isn't this such a relief to know?  The dirt and grime we see, that makes us feel we are so dirty, is only outer muck and unrelated to the treasure we truly are beneath.  Through it all, we've never been anything but clean and holy deep down.  Jesus knew that all along, and He makes sure we know it, too.  To realize this in the ultimate way is to truly know that "There was nothing to fear all along the way.."  :)

Carried Along In His River of Grace And Love!

Here are two wonderful quotes from Richard Rohr that I found recently, from his book "Everything Belongs:"

“Faith does not need to push the river precisely because it is able to trust that there is a river. …the river is flowing; we are in it. The river is God’s providential love – so do not be afraid.”

"Everything belongs; God uses everything. There are no dead ends. There is no wasted energy. Everything is recycled. Sin history and salvation history are two sides of one coin. When you "get" forgiveness, you get it. We use the phrase "falling in love." I think forgiveness is almost the same thing. It's a mystery we fall into: the mystery is God. God forgives all things for being imperfect, broken and poor. The people who know God well- the mystics, the hermits, those who risk everything to find God - always meet a lover, not a dictator. God is a lover who receives and forgives everything."

Richard Rohr

A Wonderful Email Conversation

I wanted to share part of a wonderful conversation I had recently with a good friend about how Love ultimately wins all hearts.. how wonderful to know that, as Julian of Norwich said, "All shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well."

Skylark:

It seems as though God never really thought of any of His children as "sinners', in His eyes we were probably always His beloveds. Even more fascinating is how Brian Zahnd writes about how God never once viewed us as needing forgiveness, or even willed for Jesus to die. We were the ones that killed him, yet God's love is fully depicted in that moment, since He essentially says "you can even kill me and I still love you, which proves that I have loved you all along". I once heard someone say that Jesus never came to reconcile us to an angry dictator, He only came to reveal a loving father. The post on your blog really underscored that for me.

It seems as though Grace just keeps getting better and better, and I'm finally seeing how all-encompassing it is. Really, no one is outside of the Grace of God, since everyone ends up happy in heaven with Him. And His love is truly the most freeing force on this universe. It is not coercive in the least, it is such a gentle, kind-hearted love akin to that of a lover, best friend, and parent. God never requires anything from us, freely offering us His life and unconditional love. He never asks that we continuously beg for forgiveness or even have any consciousness of our actions (good or bad), for our true worth and His love for us far supersede any of our actions. There is no "expectation" from us, He simply wants us to know that we are already in union with Him and we can now enjoy life, in spite of any hardships, since peace, love, joy and happiness already exist within us. And He is always taking care of us and our needs :) It is the best news!

Have you ever heard the song "You Got it" by Ray Orbison? It's an older song, from 1989, and though the lyrics have more romantic connotations, I couldn't help but think how it's almost like a love song from Jesus to us. The refrain goes,

"Anything you want, you got it
Anything you need, you got it
Anything at all, you got it."

It kind of made me think about how that's probably what God would say to us, He has already given us everything and more, by gifting us with His life within us, which is truly the greatest force ever. We are not lacking anything, He is there for us within us, caressing us, providing for us, and helping us in every way.

Sparrow:

The way you describe God and His love in that one paragraph, as never coercive, never requiring anything of us, gentle and kind-hearted, ..and of what He wants for us, to just know we're already in union with Him and can enjoy life because happiness is within us..wow!  That blew me away!  That is the best explanation of the good news I've heard in a long time and maybe ever!  THAT is the real gospel!

You know, I was thinking about how since I found out all are going to be in heaven, how much calmer and at peace I am in all areas of my life..it is like I was finally able to relax and really trust God, finally able to be at peace because He really IS good!  He really is!  I think before I struggled a bit because I couldn't see how He could really let people end up in hell instead of heaven..it made me a bit afraid of Him, like there was a 'bad' side to God that I had to be careful not to unleash!  Now that I know He is really going to get everyone into heaven with Him and wouldn't have it any other way, I feel He makes sense to me, life makes more sense, the gospel makes sense...knowing everything is going to be okay for everybody makes me feel that everything is so peaceful and right in such an ultimate way!

Skylark:
I completely agree with your thoughts about knowing everyone ends up in heaven. For me, it feels as though that was the missing piece of the puzzle all along, that thinking He would be judging some means He did believe in some sort of retributive justice, which proved that He wasn't that good. I would have friends who never even knew Jesus that would say "I believe everyone ends up in heaven because deep down everyone is good". And looking back, if the truth about heaven for all were untrue, then my friends would indeed be better than God. Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts on your blog about universal salvation, it has always been something that has been on my mind but I felt scared about acknowledging it. Guess it was on our minds for a reason! lol

Just today I was thinking about how incredible it is to find Jesus outside of religion. Religion is such an oppressive force, and I wanted to know Him outside of religion, know who Jesus truly was. I'm seeing how He is the lightest force. Really, I now can see the possibility of all entering heaven because I see how no one is outside of His grace. Even though some may be unaware of His life within them, no one is outside of the circle of Grace. It's as if Jesus says to all, don't worry about church attendance, evangelism, or asking for forgiveness, the laws, or doctrinal issues, all I want is for you to simply be happy, feel this deep love within you, experience life within you and give you unending joy in the midst of this sometimes confusing life. Nothing on this earth can be as freeing nor more beautiful. Sometimes, when I feel depressed or weighed down I just think about how terrible my life was prior to knowing true Grace, and though I still may feel sad or anxious, some sort of peace takes hold.

Sparrow:
I love what you said about Peace taking hold in those depressed moments!  I have experienced that too!  To me that is just so God, so Grace-at-Work! Grace is the love and presence and peace and acceptance of God (really His whole Being, which IS all those things) TAKING HOLD of our hearts and minds and flooding us with all that He is, carrying us forth in life, in happiness, in well-being and true shalom calmness, sailing us over all things in utter freedom, saturating everything and everyone with a deep sense of okayness, and bringing everything out to the perfect Happy Ending enjoying that wonderful intimacy of our union with Him forever!

How wonderful to rest in the arms that will hold us all forever!
How beautiful to rest in such a God, a God who says to us, as He did to Julian of Norwich:

“See that I am God. See that I am in everything. See that I do everything. See that I have never stopped ordering my works, nor ever shall, eternally. See that I lead everything on to the conclusion I ordained for it before time began, by the same power, wisdom and love with which I made it. How can anything be amiss?”

Isn't Grace wonderful? Isn't HE wonderful? :)

Justification by the Faith OF the Son of God - What His Love Does to the Heart!

I have been thinking and reading lately on the truth of 'justification by faith,' and I have so enjoyed looking at this wonderful truth in some new and beautiful ways..looking at exactly Whose faith justifies us and exactly what it means to be justified in the first place...

I think a beautiful way to look at justification by faith is that we are proved to be right/righteous by the faith OF the Son of God, not our faith at all..we aren't changed from sinful to righteous but proved innocent - justified - in our courtroom we've set up inside our heads!!

God never needed proof of who we were or of our true nature, after all, He fathered us and 'knew what was in man' all along! He knew we were in His image, no matter how much that image seemed obscured or hidden by our being influenced by lies and thus not in touch with or allowing ourselves to express our true selves.  It seemed with all those lies coming at us, and those seeming contradictions in our behavior and speech and emotions, that we could never see ourselves as that 'good and righteous child of God' that each of us truly were..not as long as those troubled and deceptive thoughts were in our minds.  It was almost as if we'd set up a courtroom mentally to 'try' ourselves and found so much 'evidence' of criminality..

But Jesus justified us in our court of law (our legal minds) by proving our worth and innocence at the cross, where He said we didn't know what we were doing..He showed solidarity with the human race, showed we were his brothers and sisters, with the family characteristics of our mutual Father - characteristics of a loving and good nature and a kind and unselfish disposition/heart at the core!

And He proved all this too - and more -  by rising from the dead, showed we were spirit just as He was/is and can't stay dead!  Death loses its grip when you see that!  Thank You, Jesus for justifying us, proving us right, exonerating and vindicating us in the presence of our 'enemy' - the thoughts accusing us in our minds!

Justified by the faith OF the Son of God IN us!  He never doubted we were God's holy children for a second!  He was willing to put His life on the line to prove it!  He knew that the worst things we could do were done in ignorance and confusion, and that God the Father would bring Him back to life no matter what to show us that, to erase our wrong, to show us His marvelous love once and for all!  When someone believes in you enough to love you and call you beautiful even while you spit on His face, beat Him, and string Him up and leave Him to die..that love does something to you inside..

Love, such a love that Jesus displays, is seen and experienced, and something happens inside..a knot somewhere is untangled..something like a wall is dismantled..that Love doesn't dismantle YOU, but it dismantles the lies that you've heard all your life and even told yourself all your life..lies about yourself, about God, about your relationship, about how He feels about you, about your worth..

Something crumbles inside, and like a quiet inner avalanche hurt feelings and thoughts are released and dissipated and there is a relief, a gentle peace that ensues, a calmness like a quietly flowing river, deep and wide and gentle, carrying you along.

A quiet yet strong truth has emerged, dawned upon your troubled mind:  You're not the monster you thought you were - you are beautiful, you are sweet, you are wanted, you are loved!  You're a treasure, that's what you are, a diamond, stardust, a jewel made of finest gold, worthy, precious, 'of finest quality!'  How good and sweet and lovely you are, how pure and true!  And...How you are loved!  Held!  Known, understood, embraced, supported!  How safe you are!  Now and forever, you belong, you are beloved, you are HOME!

Killed because of our Satan-manipulated sins..Raised because of our actual innocence!

I love this from facebook..

Stephen Burns
"The nuances and shifting of language seem to have diluted the message about what the resurrection of Jesus Christ is all about. You are righteous! Now discover your righteousness!

"He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised BECAUSE of our justification" - Romans 4:25

"Who was delivered up because of our offences, and was raised up BECAUSE of our being declared righteous" - Romans 4:25 YLT

Here's my "Berean" note. I included two versions that translate the verse correctly from the Greek. One is in the New American Standard Bible. The other is the Young's Literal Translation. The majority of verses render the resurrection as happening "for our justification". But the same Greek preposition (dia) is used in conveying the idea of Jesus being given "because of our transgressions" as is used to express that is was also BECAUSE of our justification that he was raised to life! The use of the preposition "dia" actually means "on account of" or "by reason of". So you can hear this more precisely expressed as the resurrection of Jesus actually having happened ON ACCOUNT OF and BY REASON OF your being found righteous by God!"

Why did Jesus die?   Because of our sins - in other words, Jesus died because we did the wrong thing and slandered, wrongly condemned, abused and killed Him.. And why did Jesus rise?  Because God found us innocent of any crime!  Jesus Himself pointed that out on the cross, that the stance of the Godhead concerning our crucifixion of the Son was that 'they don't know what they're doing.'  Wow!

Jesus rose to prove to us that God didn't believe we did any wrong!  He knew we were misguided, hurt, lied to, blind and confused..trapped in the lies we'd heard all through our lives/human history - the lie that God doesn't love us, that we are bad, that we are misshapen, broken, inadequate and 'not enough,' that we must prove ourselves to God or else be punished, that God rejected and abandoned us, that we are on our own and must measure up to a standard in order to be 'ok' in ourselves and before God, the relationship with God must be earned and merited, that we are 'wrong' and innately sinful..and we seemed to prove all this by being so rebellious in our actions, so angry and bitter against God, so mistrusting and withdrawn and suspicious, so hateful in our acts toward Him, even to the point of murdering Him!  Yet God proved otherwise.  He did not call us out, punish or condemn us, or even call us sinners!  Instead He brought Jesus back from the dead without a word of reproof, without a bit of anger or 'righteous indignation,'  without a bit of retaliatory or retributive 'justice' in His ways towards us!

It was almost like He was saying, oh, you little children didn't know what you were doing when you killed my Son.  So I am going to make it all better, take responsibility for your confused and misguided acts; I am going to clean up this mess and make it like it never even happened - for I am just going to pop my Son back up in life again.  Haha!  Infected with such a love demonstrated and proved to us by such an act of the loving Dad, we can't help but live abundantly and freely with Him forever!  Eden revisited and more!

So He died because we went and killed Him in our Satanic delusion (trapped as we were by Satan's lies...so that we weren't in control of our acts but were slaves to this confusion he put on us by lying to us), and yet..
And yet He rose because God knew that we were actually innocent of any wrong and was proving that!

Satan tried to convince us we were guilty and unloved by getting us to lash out in our confusion and angst and kill the Son of God..
But God popped Jesus back up to life, erasing the crime!  No body, no murder to convict or punish us of!  God showing He knew we were innocent all along!

He has only ever seen you, me and everyone as His beloved children, in whom He is well pleased!  How could the perfect Father ever see His children as anything less than perfect - pure, sweet, lovely and innocent?  How could the One who is Pure Love (undiluted love, love without any mixture of anything else!) ever have any other stance towards us than complete love, acceptance, joy and delight?  How could we, made in His perfect and pure Love Image, ever be anything BUT pure Love at our core?  The cross proves His Love, and the resurrection proves our Innocence, bathed as we are in that same Love, made as we are of that very BEING of Pure Love!   We're Pure Love just like our Daddy!  Thank You, Papa for showing us that - who You are and who we are - through the cross and resurrection!

Ponderings on His Loving Ways

How wonderful to think how beautiful God is in His LOVEliness!

God is vulnerable and we can be too..for we are truly loving by nature just as He is, made in His image as we are!  Like Father, like children!

We are not bad or selfish but need to get rid of the idea that we are..once we see ourselves as beloved apart from our actions, and as good apart from our thoughts and feelings and behaviors, we feel safe and can afford to let others misunderstand or defame us, and we find ourselves freed up to love others instead of trying to get love..

For we know we are loved, safe and "good eggs"..one with God who is vulnerable and generous Love..so that frees us up to finally be ourselves, for we are vulnerable and generous Love as well..

It's not the Real, True Self (spirit) that needs to 'go down' and 'be humbled' or whatever, it's the false ideas of ourselves that need to die out, and they automatically do in the light of God's truth dawning upon us..

And so often we can only really see and dare to believe this truth when it's demonstrated just after a massive fail!

I truly feel He doesn't orchestrate such failures or difficult times, and they are not 'punishment from God' or anything like that!  He is simply amazing enough to bring something beautiful out of those moments of 'wipeout' ..beauty for ashes..He is able to take the worst things we do and turn them something more beautiful than we could ever imagine!  Men may concoct a crucifixion, but God is in the business of resurrection!  As Robert Capon says, the worst we can be is dead, but since He is the Resurrection and the Life, that makes us just His cup of tea!

So we find the 'lean times' or 'desert wanderings' are not the wasted or squandered times but instead the stuff from which He makes beautiful miracles in our hearts, times when we see into eternity and catch a glimpse of His love more beautiful than we'd ever seen before!

For if He loves us and sees us as innocent and good THEN, at what we think of as 'our worst moments,' then He ALWAYS sees us innocent, beloved and good and it must actually BE TRUE that we really ARE the innocent, good, beloved, loving creatures He says we are!

To me, this is the message of the cross and resurrection..that even when we did the worst thing we could do and killed His Son, He simply absorbed all our 'wrath' and called us innocent, taking care of our crime by even removing the evidence of it - the body itself - by raising His Son back to life without a word of anger against us, without a single reproach, simply holding out His hands to embrace us and give us the full experience of His love and life that has always been our birthright as His created children!  THAT is true acceptance, THAT is eternal security, THAT is unconditional Love, THAT is truly good news!

The cross and resurrection shouts out that good news of unconditional love, and it truly seems to hit home for us personally at those moments of massive fail..when we find He hasn't left us at all but is still there, loving us, caressing us, blessing us, carrying us along..and at that moment the truth dawns upon us in a new way..that He really isn't going to leave us, no matter what we do..GRACE..it's true!  He really IS all grace and love and not a bit of law or judgment!

The lying voices die away and the intense need to prove our right-ness melts off like fog before the morning sun, and the intense cravings for love, now satisfied, turn into quiet contentment simply to BE as we are, to enjoy both God and life, to enjoy both love and loving, seeing we are wrapped in such a LOVE that defies description!!

I feel this is the most beautiful and profound experience in the world, to find out how deeply we are loved and how purely and absolutely God's nature IS that very love!

What Happened Through the Cross Was for Us, not for God!

The cross is so powerful..I feel I am seeing its meaning in new ways and uncovering layers of truth not fully experienced before.  This article is so great and I want to ponder the thoughts written here more and more.  Just wanted to share this article with you all:

Jesus Died for Us ... Not for God - Brian Zahnd

“You killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead.” –The Apostle Peter, Acts 3:15

Golgotha is where the great crimes of humanity — pride, rivalry, blame, violence, domination, war, and empire — are dragged into the searing light of divine judgment [this word threw me off a bit - I think I would have said that humanity's ways were put in the light of divine truth, juxtaposed against the truth of Love and thus shown to be terrible and not God-like at all..this makes me realize that it isn't accurate to see the cross as God's violence, blame, domination and war against His Son or us!  WE were the violent ones who killed the beloved one of the Father...] At Golgotha we see the system of human organization that we blithely call “civilization” for what it is: an axis of power enforced by violence so corrupt that it is capable of murdering God in the name of what we call truth, justice, and liberty.

Golgotha is also the place where the love of God achieves its greatest expression. As Jesus is lynched in the name of religious truth and imperial justice he expresses the heart of God as he pleads for the pardon of his executioners. At the cross we discover that the God revealed in Christ would rather die in the name of love than kill in the name of freedom. Our savior is Jesus Christ, not William Wallace.

The cross is both hideous and glorious, simultaneously ugly and beautiful. It’s as hideous as human sin and as glorious as divine love. It is a collision of sin and grace. But it is not a contest of equals. In the end love and beauty win. We call it Easter.

What the cross is not is a quid pro quo where God agrees to forgive upon receipt of his Son’s murder. What the cross is not is an economic transaction whereby God gains the capital to forgive. These legal and fiscal models for understanding the cross simply will not do.

Jesus does not save us from God, Jesus reveals God as savior. What is revealed on Good Friday is not a monstrous deity requiring a virgin to be thrown into a volcano or a firstborn son to be nailed to a tree. What is revealed on Good Friday is the depths of human depravity and the greater depths of God’s love.

Before the cross is anything else, it is a catastrophe. It is the unjust and violent lynching of an innocent man. It is the murder of God. Jesus is sacrificed by the Father only in this sense: The Father sent his Son into our system of violent power (civilization) to reveal how utterly sinful it is — so sinful that it will murder the Innocent One. God did not will the murder of his Son, he simply knew it would occur. But even Plato knew that. In imagining what would happen to a perfectly just man in our unjust world, Plato said, “our just man will be scourged, racked, fettered…and at last, after all manner of suffering, will be crucified.” (The Republic, Book II, p. 37) Plato wrote that three centuries before Christ. God knew what Plato knew. For Jesus to proclaim and inaugurate the kingdom of God in the midst of our unjust and violent world would require a supreme sacrifice.

The death of Jesus was a sacrifice. But it was a sacrifice to end sacrificing, not a sacrifice to appease an angry god. It was not God who required the sacrifice of Jesus, it was human civilization. A system built upon violent power cannot tolerate the presence of one who owes it nothing. The sacrifice of Jesus was necessary to convince us to quit producing sacrificial victims; it was not necessary to convince God to forgive. When Jesus prays for forgiveness on the cross he was not acting contrary to the nature of God, he was revealing the nature of God as forgiving love.

Think of it this way: Where do we find God on Good Friday? Is God found in Caiaphas seeking a sacrificial scapegoat? Is God found in Pilate requiring a punitive execution? Or is God found in Jesus, absorbing sin and responding with forgiveness?

The Apostle Paul says God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself. (2 Corinthians 5:19) And this should not be misread as God reconciling himself to the world…as some mistaken atonement theories do! Jesus died for us…not for God.

The crucifixion is not what God inflicts upon Jesus in order to forgive, the crucifixion is what God in Christ endures as he forgives. The cross is where God absorbs sin and recycles it into forgiveness.

The crucifixion is not the ultimate attempt to change God’s mind about us — the cross is the ultimate attempt to change our mind about God. God is not like Caiaphas seeking a sacrifice. God is not like Pilate requiring an execution. God is like Jesus, absorbing sin and forgiving sinners.

The cross is not about payment, the cross is about forgiveness.

Good Friday is not about divine wrath, Good Friday is about divine love.

Calvary is not where we see how just God is, Calvary is where we see how unjust civilization is.

As long as we think Jesus died for God instead of dying for us, we will never see the sinfulness of human civilization and the beauty of the divine alternative: the kingdom of God.

The justice of God is not retributive justice. In the end retributive justice changes nothing. The justice of God is entirely restorative. The only thing God will call justice is setting the world right, not punishing the innocent. (Our sense of retributive justice is derived from the fact that we are more punished by our sins than for our sins.)
[These thoughts are so powerful to me..the Father wasn't the ogre demanding a sacrifice in order to appease His anger..He was forgiveness and love the whole time..He was the one taking the worst thing that ever happened - that we would kill God! - and turning it into the best thing ever - God calling us all innocent and ending the strife inside us once and for all - the need to sacrifice, the anxiety that we must 'do' something to get His love - for we see at the cross that we ALREADY had His love and have had it all along, can't lose it!  We know now His love and grace and acceptance are ours forever because they remained even when we did the worst thing we could possibly do by killing His Son..if He loved us, claimed us, embraced us even THEN, He loves, claims us, embraces us forever!]

The bottom line is this: God did not kill Jesus, human civilization did. We did. Jesus absorbed the blow in love and forgave us. The Father vindicated his Son on Easter. Now Jesus calls us to follow him into the kingdom of grace, the kingdom of love, the kingdom of God.

Let us follow the Lamb.

The post Jesus Died for Us…Not for God appeared first on Brian Zahnd.
Wow!  The cross wasn't ever about a 'payment' for sin, was it?  It was always about God showing us, in such extreme love and grace, that a payment was never needed!  Real Love never makes people 'pay!'
The cross is not another chapter in the book of religion but is the end of religion, God slamming the book shut forever!
God didn't need the cross to be 'okay' with us..we needed it to be 'okay' with ourselves and finally see that we really are worthy to be loved, valued beyond imagination..
Wow, we really are 'to die for,' aren't we?
We really are His very own beloved children in whom He is well pleased!  How could any good father say anything less than this about His own dear children!
What a relief to know that the cross wasn't something God demanded and did so He could put a judgmental, wrathful spotlight on our sin but was something we did (in confusion and pain, not seeing we were loved) that was turned around and used by God to put a bright heavenly spotlight on LOVE!
What a Love!  This is a love beyond anything we could ever dream, a love that is strong enough to truly banish every fear and heal every hurt in the human heart!

Two Wonderful Things..

We watched a family movie recently called "Mom's Night Out" which was really funny and good..the movie is about a mom who wonders if she is 'enough' - and at the end of the movie, two statements are made that sum up so well what I feel God has been showing me this past year of my life..

The two thoughts are basically:

My life does not have to change for me to be happy.

I am not a failure; God says I am enough, even perfect.

These two thoughts are so profound to me, and I feel like they are such revelations deep in my heart.  I can really be happy right now, no matter what life looks like at this moment.  And I am really okay/enough right now, no matter what I am like at this moment.  I don't have to wait till things change in order to be happy -  happiness is mine now.  And I don't have to wait till I change to be okay/enough - I am fine right now.  God is fine with me and my life right now, and so I can be as well!

These two truths have given me such peace and joy in the last several months.  I have had a newfound love of life growing inside of me, a cherishing of the simple things like my daughter's smile or long walks in the woods.  I have seen so suddenly the beauty, the wild deliciousness, the precious value of this life we have here on earth, every breath something to be savored, every sunrise and sunset something to be enjoyed, every laugh with a family member something to be cherished.  I have become so grateful for this life and is seems so wonderful, even in the midst of the chaos that sometimes occurs in my circumstances.

And I have been so much more 'okay' with ME lately..so much more willing to give myself a break, to let myself feel what I really feel, even if it is a so-called 'unacceptable' emotion like anger, doubt, bitterness, or frustration.  I have allowed my soul to voice questions and struggles, allowed myself to be real, to be imperfect, to be messy.  And yet I feel more whole, settled, grounded, and at peace than ever!  It seems every time I allow a part of me that is hurting to express that hurt feeling, the feeling seems to be soothed somehow and calm down..and work itself out naturally without any effort..almost as if some part of me that was hurting just wanted to be noticed, heard, loved and validated..allowed to express its feelings and be loved and embraced in the midst of them..and then that part seems to be more okay, calmer, quieted down inside.  It is almost like the hurting parts are like a little child crying, and that little one calms down as it is held, listened to, allowed to share its hurts.  Every part of me deserves love, validation, acceptance and understanding.  Every part of me deserves pampering, kindness, help and support.  Every part of me is made by God and special!

I just wanted to share these two wonderful thoughts.  I am so thankful and grateful for this wonderful life we all are sharing together here on this planet as children of God.  I love each of you and am so thankful to have you as my brothers and sisters in this great family!

Already Home, Already Free (sharing a beautiful Grace song by Kirtana)

Here is a wonderful song that Woolly has shared with us..such wonderful lyrics about how we are already FINE and can just BE, just as we are, for just as we are is perfect!

Lyrics:

Already Home, Already Free
(Kirtana)

Nothing to seek.
Nothing to gain.
Nothing to know.

Nothing to lose.
Nothing to do,
but let go.

Let's rest here
where the future
and the past disappear...
Here--
in the sanctity of Now.

Nothing to prove.
Nothing to own.
No one to be.

Nowhere to move.
Already home.
Already Free.

Let's just stay
in the cave of the heart today
and bask
in this ever-present love.

Nothing to fix.
Nothing to change.
Nothing to fight.

Only what is.
What if what is
is just right.

Why not trust
this Mystery living us
and rest
in the refuge of the Self.

Nothing to judge.
No one to blame or fear.
Only my face
greeting me in the mirror.

Nowhere to turn.
Nowhere to hide.
Nobody else.

Nothing outside
that isn't inside
myself.

Let's just see,
Is anyone here but me? --
Here--
in the present moment now.

Nothing to know.
Nothing to do.
No one to be.

Nowhere to go.
Already home.
Already free.

Nowhere to go.
Already home.
Already free.

Nowhere to go.
Already home.
Already free.

I was thinking about this idea recently, that since we are made by God, we must already be fine, adequate, enough, beautiful, wonderful and even perfect..for 'whatever God does is perfect!'

How wonderful to know that since He is obviously satisfied with anything HE makes - which includes you and me - that we too can be satisfied with the you and me He has made..we can be satisfied with ourselves, okay with ourselves, accepting of ourselves, pleased with ourselves.  For God thinks we are enough in His eyes, so we can be enough in our own eyes!

We can really gives ourselves a break and love ourselves and be good to ourselves..we can be okay with ourselves..and know that we don't have to feel a need to change, grow, improve, fix ourselves, do something, make something happen, get somewhere, or become something 'better' - we are already fine right at this moment, where we are, as we are.

We can say that just as we are, we ARE okay, enough, good, even wonderful, beautiful, great..perfect in our messy human imperfectness and weakness..perfect to Him always..for we are His amazingly perfect handiwork always and forever!

What Grace Means To Me..

To me, right now, I feel that Grace means...

Everything is okay..
All is well..
We are safe..
We are home..

We can't be lost..
It's impossible for us to be lost..
We are in a safe place,
A protected and sheltered place..

We are not free-falling,
Waiting to crash at any moment..
We are never going to crash..
The hammer is never going to fall..

For there is no hammer!
There is no danger of crashing!
There is something solid under us, supporting us..
Solid and strong, yet also buoyant and uplifting..

God's arms are underneath us,
Holding us up..
Carrying us along..
We are being carried by Life Himself!

So we are not free falling..
We are not spinning out of control..
We are actually flying!
We are soaring on currents of Light, Life and Love!

And everything is accepted..
Everything is allowed..
All parts of us, all thoughts, feelings, and even behaviors
Are accepted, embraced, understood, loved!

There is no part of us that is rejected..
There is no part of us that is unacceptable..
There is no part of us that is unwanted..
There is no part of us that is ugly, misshapen, or wrong..

Every part of us is beautiful!
Every part of us is beloved!
Every part of us is allowed to be, to express itself, to exist and breathe easy..
Just as we are, in this moment, we are perfect, we are precious, we are love..

That is what Grace is to me -
It is the reality of a Love so strong, so encompassing, so unconditional,
That it means we are perfectly safe and secure
Guaranteed a happy ending, guaranteed a safe arrival and joyous welcome..

It is a Love so perfect, pure, open, vast and embracing
That is means we can be anything, do anything, feel like anything
And still be loved, still be accepted, still be okay,
Still be home!

And so this Love frees us from having to worry whether we will be
Judged..or punished..or rejected..or abandoned..
This love frees us with its utter security..frees us..
To be ourselves, to be real, to be open, to be vulnerable, to be human!

It frees us to try and fail and not worry whether we fail or not..
It frees us to ask questions and even doubt and know all is still well..
It frees us to not have to know all the answers or even know the questions!
It frees us to think any thought and feel any feeling and know it's valid, ok..

It frees us to feel safe in God's arms..knowing we can't fall out of those arms!
It frees us to get to know Him, feel safe opening up to Him, talking to Him..
It frees us to allow ourselves to be loved by Him,
It frees us to be feel worthy of love..

It frees us to love ourselves,
It frees us to be kind to ourselves,
And to allow ourselves to be the wonderful, awesome people we really are!
To be the magnanimous, joy-to-be-around children of God we truly are!!

That is what grace means to me..
How wonderful..
How reassuring..
How freeing..

Grace is God saying, "I won't ever leave, reject you, or kick you out..
I am here to stay, and you're with Me to stay.
Everything is okay and all right between us,
And everything is going to be ultimately all right."

And you don't have to make some move for all of this to be so.
It IS so.
That's the good news..That's the gospel..
That's GRACE!

Grace is Everywhere!

Grace is everywhere, it is the fabric of the universe, for this whole universe, all of it, every part, is made from God's own being, and He is the one pulsing in the very fiber of the creation itself!

Truly we are made of God-matter, and HE Is all grace and love, wow!  That means we are made of LOVE, not indifferent matter, and this universe is built upon GRACE, not law!  This whole universe is held together by strands of love and grace ...knit together with compassion... its seams made of pure goodness, of God our Papa Himself!

What a wonderful loving Hand is beneath us, holding us up and carrying us along at all times?  Who could escape Him or get away from this loving presence when it (HE!) is the very fabric that makes up our own world, our own cells, our own existence!

I am so glad we can't get away from, can't be separated from such a LOVE, such a Father and Friend!  For He is Life, Love, the atmosphere we breathe and the energy that holds us up and buoys us along and carries us into the full experience of enjoying life, enjoying His presence, enjoying being held in His arms!  Everyone is already there in His arms, can't be anywhere else, for there is nowhere else to be!  HE is all and in all and all things are "from Him, and through Him, and TO Him!"

What a safe universe it is when we realize HE is the unseen force behind it all and HIS is the heart that beats at its center!

Wonderful thoughts on oneness!

Here are some wonderful thoughts from a facebook friend, Adam Bignell, on how Jesus came to show us that separation between man and God is an illusion:
9:05pm Jan 7
"It seems to me that humanity has always preferred a mediator between them and God. It is also my opinion that it is fear that drives this. The Gospel that preaches separation and delay is stemmed in the need of a mediator. Humanity chose Moses to be the mouthpiece between them and God and it's still the desire of part of Christianity today. However it's interesting that God/Christ the incarnation became another mediator to remove the illusion of separation. Jesus dealt with the fear in the human heart by becoming human and revealing the true nature of the Triune God. Mediation and separation are the same thing. When we allow men, women and ministries to be our relationship with God we enter into the illusion of separation. The incarnations life, death and resurrection has firmly opened our eyes that were blind to see our incredible union that was and is and is to come."

Since We Are Carried Along in His Arms, We CANNOT Fail!

Everything is coming together just as it is meant to..no matter what tumultuous feelings are on the surface, our spirit is calm and KNOWS all is well, isn't that wonderful?  The mind can be confused, the mouth can spout off nonsense, the heart can feel depressed and lonely, the body can act out, but the spirit is calm, at peace, at rest in God..the spirit is one with God always no matter what and is in joy and quietness no matter what..sees God no matter what, enjoys love, is love, knows LOVE Himself..the spirit KNOWS!!

All is calm within no matter what is bubbling on the surface.  In our depths there is no problem, no struggle, no anguish, no fear.  There is only peace and quiet and rest.  There is only God and our spirit is one with Him, joined with Him, part of Him, enclosed by Him and cradled by Him, carried by Him.

So we are safe, so safe and secure!  We are wrapped in God at all times!  Nothing can really get to us, nothing can separate us, nothing can alter this reality of oneness with God, of supreme peace, of belovedness, of fullness of life and joy!  Nothing can disturb our rest there in His bosom.  Nothing can disrupt our relationship there in oneness of Spirit!  We are safe in God's nest of love, deep in the depths of His heart!  Carried along in life, how can we know death?  Carried along in love, how can we know judgment?  Carried along in acceptance, how can we know rejection?  Carried along in strength, how can we know failure??

Carried along  - God is carrying us and HE won't fail..isn't it wonderful to know deep down..somehow it is going to work out, all is well in spite of all the chaos!

That is the biggest revelation God gave me in the past year and it changed my life.  It changed my life!  We can be happy no matter what, we can make it through anything and we WILL all is well and all WILL work out!  Whether we rant and rave or whether we relax and trust, we'll be carried along to the happy ending no matter what..all feelings are allowed, every thought and every real feeling we have is accepted and okay.  WE don't have to act, feel or think a certain way to be okay or make things okay - we ARE okay and everything IS okay..because HE is here embracing us and our feelings and our circumstances in totality!  And HE is the one responsible for our lives, for bringing about the good ending for us all!  So we can relax and enjoy the ride!  All is accepted, nothing depends on us, everything depends on Him, and HE NEVER FAILS!  It reminds me of that verse in the Message Bible "everything is coming together, love is on the way.."

Love holds us, Love carries us, Love does all for us, Love will never fail us!

Merry Christmas, All Is Well!

I just wanted to share one of my favorite Christmas songs, "All Is Well"  - I love this song because it shares so beautifully and so simply what I think Jesus came to do..to show us who felt so orphaned, rejected and alone, awash in a confusing world of fear and struggle, that truly, ALL is well..we are loved, we are carried, we are not alone..God is with us, God is for us, God is here, so all is well!  It was like He came to tell all the lost and confused and hurting little children that Papa is here, everything is okay, and everything is going to ultimately and forever be okay!

I heard a preacher say recently, "if God loves us just as we are, what was the point of Jesus coming?"  And I heard within my spirit the answer ringing out:  "To prove it!"  God proved His love for us in this - He let us kill His Son and still held His arms out in love to embrace us!  He let us do the worst thing we could to Him and then made our crime work backwards on itself, reversing our deed from murder to miraculous resurrection and giving us real life, eternal life, which is the relationship with Him we'd longed for all throughout history and thought we were too far gone to even hope for!

He loved us at our worst behavior!  Accepted us when we felt at our lowest!  Thus He freed us from the shadow world we'd been living in, freed us from the lies we'd been bound by, lies that said we were unworthy, awful, filthy, hopeless, orphaned...

Daddy came and turned the light on in that dark room in which we were suffocating, and suddenly we saw!  The people in great darkness saw a great light, the light of God's love and favor in the beautiful face of a vulnerable baby, the strong support of a brother to us all who walked right alongside of us in solidarity with us and shared our sorrows and pains, a friend on the cross loving those who betrayed Him and called them innocent, a triumphant deliverer who unlocked the prisonhouse of the fear of death by conquering death and showing us a happy ending awaits in Papa's arms!

He silenced forever the idea that we had to work our way into God's favor, showing us that reality is "God For Us"..and He silenced forever the idea that we were far from God and unacceptable, showing us that reality is "God With Us!"  He came to prove His love for us all, to prove to us when all 'natural evidence' seemed to point against us and accuse us and condemn us, that really all is well!

All is well between us and God:  He'd never been vindictive or punishing but has been accepting and gracious all along..
All is well in His stance towards us:  He'd always loved us and called us His own..
All is well in our own lives  in the deepest and most ultimate way:   He's always been there for us inside, Christ being revealed IN us as our very own life!
All is eternally well and nothing can change that:  we have been carried along by grace all along and there's never been a doubt whether we'd have a happy ending!
All is well and nothing can take that away:  it was never up to us anyways, but always up to Him, and He never fails!

How wonderful when this blessed Light dawned on this world to show us the peace we have with Him, to show us the oneness we have with Him, to show us the relationship of pure love and acceptance we have with Him, to show us we've always been part of the divine family circle of and are wanted, understood, known, celebrated, embraced, and cherished just as we are!

I just want to say to all my dear friends here how thankful I am for each of you, and how much I wish each of you beloveds a wonderful, peaceful, grace-full Christmas in the blessed joy that for time and eternity, because we are unconditionally loved and held by such a Savior who rescued us from all darkness, confusion and lies, All Is Well!

The Real Me

There is a deeper part of me that is the Real Me that is behind all the drama, watching the actors play their parts, seeing the play for what it is, a shadow-show dimly based on the Really Real Life that the Real Self is part of!

That Real Self is bigger than all the little dramatic scenarios the actors play out with their made up personas, the Real Self loves all those parts of me that are play-acting a part in this drama of earthly life.  The Real Self watches the acting out and loves and accepts every actor and even lovingly, nonjudgmentally allows every action...not going along with the drama yet loving and being present with every actor and every action.  That True Self, the Real ME, is in solidarity with all my hurting parts that ‘act out’ and yet beyond their actions and feelings..caring for all the hurting parts and soothing their fears with love and understanding

That True Self is always firm and stable, always seeing Eternal Reality - always seeing the wholeness at the heart of everything, always aware of the good happy ending that is guaranteed to come, always knowing with that deep inner knowing that all is well..always true and never confused, always calm and never disturbed, always happy and never sad, always loving and good, always connected to God, part of God, made of God, one with God!

In fact that Real Self is part of God, His divine Breath within this feeble frame, the gentle Blowing of His presence of Pure Love!  We are truly part of this wonderful Being, caught up as part of Him..our True Self is somehow one with God's Self..they are one!  We are flowing with Him at all times, never sad, always at peace, full of joy, part of that great reservoir of love and goodness who is our Papa, the Father of us all, the Source of all that is!

We are always in perfect harmony with Him in our spirit!  One!  Flowing together as one heart!  No separation, no disturbance, no disagreement!  Right along with Him, we watch the drama of our lives and watch the acting out of all our addictions, struggles, plays for power, fear based mechanisms..and all is accepted, all is loved, nothing is judged 'unacceptable,' no part is rejected, no action is grounds for dismissal..all is loved, all is held, all is accepted, no matter what!  This is the Unconditional Love that we are part of, that we are held by, that we are caught up in, that we truly ARE in our Real Selves, forever!

We ARE That!

How long we have spent trying to get somewhere, trying to change and be better, trying to attain a sense of being 'okay' with God and life..trying to get close to God, get a deeper relationship with Him, get Him to flow out of us more..yet all that was always unnecessary, because all along we have been already there, already at what we were looking for, already who we wanted to be, already one with the One we were seeking!

We can truly say we are not trying to become one, trying to become good, trying to become holy, trying to become filled, trying to become loving, for we ARE that!  It's our identity, our nature, who we are as God's dear children!  The children share the same nature as the Parent.  God is Love, therefore so are we, His kids!  And not only that, we are connected with God so intimately that we are actually part of Him.  Christ even says He is the head and we are His body - all one Person, we being part of God Himself!  Talk about being caught up in a Life greater than your own, a story and existence far beyond your own earthly life!

Whatever it is we have sometimes searched for, longed for, or hoped to have or become, we can now know that we ARE that!  We ARE goodness, we ARE kindness, we ARE wholeness, we ARE fullness, we ARE faithfulness, we ARE holiness, we ARE peace, we ARE joy, we ARE love - we ARE God in these mortal bodies!  He is our deepest, truest, most real part, the core in us that makes us who we are, the Self that is our deepest most real self!  Just as Christ said, so can we say, "I and my Father are ONE."  With ONE, there is no separation, no lack.  With ONENESS, all is well, all is perfect, all is whole and complete.  With ONENESS there is no struggle to become - for we already ARE - there is no trying, there is only BE-ing in quietness and peace and joy, in perfect communion and intimacy.  With ONENESS there is no more trying to know, there is simply knowing and being known, complete transparency and fellowship.  We are truly part of God, we are at rest, we are satisfied, we are grounded, we are secure, we are safe, we are held, we are home, we are Love!

We're never a separate self trying to become one with God or let Him flow through..we are part of God, one essence, there's no 'middle man' of a separate individual that has to 'do' or 'believe' or even 'understand' something to achieve oneness or allow the flow of love..we ARE That already, we ARE the Love we long for, love flows out of us because we ARE Flowing Love, we ARE part of God and can't be separated from Him any more than we could be separated from our own selves, for really 'we' and 'He' are one and the same in essence and connection and being and truth! We are God in these bodies, by nature and design! There is nothing to do, get to, or become.  We don't have to do, we can simply BE!  At all times we are effortlessly, naturally being Love Himself in these mortal bodies!  Be yourself - that's Him, wow!  Act natural - that's the Spirit in manifestation, wow!  Love because it's all you can do, because it's all you ARE...it comes naturally since it's Who you ARE as "I AM!"

You Shall Not...

The old covenant law contained many "shall nots" which had a purpose that is now fulfilled. We are not under that old legislation anymore. Now we are under the new covenant where God provides all for us as a gift and we are free in Him. This covenant also contains some "shall nots" - yet they are so different from the old "shall nots" - rather than making me feel depressed and guilty, they make me feel safe and warm and joyful in Him! They are focused on our secure relationship with God rather than our erratic behavior, for the New Covenant has a relationship focus and not a works focus. These are the "shall nots" I have found in the new covenant. I only used Jesus' words in John. I'm sure if I looked through the rest of the New Testament, I could find many more! Anyway, here are those "shall nots" that I found:

His promises to us in the New Covenant of grace:

1 - You SHALL NOT hunger, but shall be fully satisfied with Him (John 6:35).

2 - You SHALL NOT thirst, but shall have within His very Spirit as an ever-flowing fountain of eternal life (John 4:14).

3 - You SHALL NOT walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John 8:12).

4 - You SHALL NOT be a slave to sin or the devil's lies, but shall be free indeed (John 8:32-36).

5 - You SHALL NOT perish, but shall have everlasting life (John 3:16).

6 - You SHALL NOT be snatched from His hand, but shall be safe (John 10:27-8).

7 - You SHALL NOT come into judgment, but have already passed from death to life (John 5:24).

8 - You SHALL NOT follow a stranger, but shall know and follow your Shepherd (John 10:4-5).

9 - You SHALL NOT have your joy stolen, but shall rejoice with great joy (John 16:22).

10 - SHALL NOT be left desolate, but shall have the His Spirit with you always to comfort you (John 14:16-18)!

With His very Spirit inside us as our best friend and LIFE, holding us, loving us, keeping us, living through us AS us, how can we go wrong? If God is for us, who can be against us? We shall not be put to shame but will always be led in triumph, love and grace! All as a gift through Jesus' work for us and His wonderful grace, not ever through our efforts! What a wonderful covenant the New Covenant is!

The Cross - Where Love Silenced the Lying Voice of Shame

The voice of shame is such a terrible voice because it doesn't just accuse us of doing wrong and therefore guilty, it actually accuses of of BEING wrong and therefore worthless..not worthy to be loved, without any dignity, deserving no care or consideration..shameful and embarrassing, rejected and unwanted, not fit for God's presence, 'good for nothing.'  What a lie!  I believed this lie for so many years. I am seeing more and more how the cross dispels such a lie of unworth and shame.  The cross stands as a testimony of our amazing worth to God and of how much we deserve to be loved, cared for and rescued!

The cross says God loves and accepts us even in the midst of any sin...thus, the cross not only assures us of God's love but puts to death any lies or accusations that we are unworthy, shameful, or rejected..for the cross proves we're worth dying for, the cross proves we're not rejected even at our worst, the cross proves Jesus is not ashamed to be counted with us transgressors! And thus the cross forever silences those voices of accusation!

The cross shows that His love is a loyal love, a love that does not take into account a wrong suffered, a love that keeps no record of wrongs, a love that says of His murderers, "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing!" He sees past our wrongs to the hurting person beneath, to His little lost child beneath, so in need of his Papa's tender loving care!

The cross shouts for all eternity, "I came to my own and you, my very own children, are worth it! You are worth My very own life! You are so special and beloved and accepted in My sight that I'd rather die than miss out on fellowship with You! I can't get you out of My heart, our of My thoughts, out of My existence! I am forever on your side, forever for you! You're my very own children, and I'd do anything for you! I will never leave you or forsake you. I will never turn you out in the cold, never forget you. You're everything to Me, and I will never let anything keep us from enjoying sweet communion together for ever and always!"
The cross forever stands as our proof of God's love and our value to Him in the face of any accusation or lying voice of condemnation or shame...for He says we're worth dying for, we're loved no matter what we do, we can't drive Him away no matter how we act, He's for us, on our side, to do us good, no matter what, forever and always! Committed, faithful, unconditional, nonjudgmental, generous, self-sacrificing, other-centered, 100% pure LOVE! That's what He is, and the cross is our proof that it is so! Hallelujah!

We're Always Innocent Chilren Before Him!

I just wanted to share some wonderful thoughts that came up in an email conversation with my beautiful friend Rachel recently as we were talking about how our Father sees us, His children:

"I have certainly had many ups and downs but I guess really, all along I was being carried by another, who is living within me and never have I been outside of Him. I think maybe deep down we all just want to know that we are ok and loved no matter what our circumstances are or how we act in situations. So it's really such a relief to think that has been true for us all along and is true every moment. Even greater is the fact that our actions, thoughts, feelings etc. do not determine who we are, and God only sees us as precious children, with pure thoughts, feelings, actions etc. Because if those things were to define us we would be measuring ourselves on a yard stick, unable to fully feel unconditionally loved and ultimately putting ourselves back under a law, which is fine, but rather obsolete since Jesus removed all of that!

"You know I wonder sometimes whether at our core we wish to just be children again. Not in the sense that we wouldn't get to experience the freedoms of being an adult, but children are always loved and doted on for simply being. I know that sometimes children do not get to experience that if their home life is not so good, but children just want to feel loved and free and happy at the core. Maybe God knows that is true about each of us and wishes to love us like that, allowing us to just play, be free, savor the moment and be happy. And maybe even our actions and thoughts, though not always in line with what we hope to be true, aren't even a concern to Him. It is as if He is a parent that watches his young child steal a cookie from the cookie jar- the parent knows it is all out of innocence and could never feel that his child has actually done anything wrong! And in this case, unlike the parent who catches his or her child stealing a cookie-we are never reprimanded or made to feel as if our actions aren't accepted, for every bit of us is fully accepted!"
Wow, isn't it wonderful to know that we are truly innocent before Him, even in the midst of our 'hands in the cookie jar' moments, that our hearts are truly innocent and pure deep down, that there is NO shame, blame, guilting, condemning or punishment coming to us from our Daddy at all, ever!  Our performance is never a measure of our worth - His Love is the measure of our worth, and that Love is infinite, eternal, unconditional!  Wow!  That means our worth, our value, is infinite, eternal, unconditional!Just as our own children are worth the world to us and we'd do anything, truly anything, for them, so we are priceless and beyond valuable to Him, worth the whole cosmos times infinity!  For the magniitude of our dignity and honor before Him is beyond infinite, beyond price, beyond understanding or imagining!  You are His treasure, His whole world!  You mean everything to Him!
And He always sees and knows and relates to you just as you are - innocent, pure and sweet like a little tiny child!  Pure, untainted, unmarred, with only innocent thoughts and motives and intentions.  He sees the deepest part of Himself and only sees His own image there!  We are made in the image of Love, Pure Love, vast and open and free, so how could we ever be anything else BUT that pure love?  We couldn't!  The source and wellspring of our very life is God, is a Pure Source, like sweet crystal clear water, a fountain of Perfect Love springing up from within giving us life, BEING our Life..and if the Source (God) is pure, the water springing from it (humanity) is pure!

As my dear sister Rachel has said so well, we only want to be loved, don't we?  That is our one pure innocent motive behind it all, just a longing to know we are okay and loved no matter what.  When we find out we are truly loved without condition, without measure, without end, everything inside starts to breathe easy and rest.  When we find out we really are His children, being held in Love by our Papa at all times - that we are truly "being carried by another" who is eternally for us, in us, as us - we naturally settle down and fall asleep in His arms!

There is Someone in us, in our depths, Someone who is for us, Someone who is carrying us, Someone who is loving us, and we will never be anything other than His beloved, innocent children, held fast in His arms!  We are ONE with this wonderful Someone, this wonderful Father, made of His DNA, breathing His Spirit as our breath, having His very nature of Love, feeling His heartbeat sound out His presence in us at every moment..We are ONE, never TWO!  We are ONE, together, a unity, ONE Spirit, and we can never be separated or apart!  We are ONE, we are HOME, we are PURE, we are LOVED!

A God Beyond All Imaginings..

If we had never heard of God, had never read anything about Him or been taught anything about Him, and we were to start imagining what we would want a God to be like, what would we imagine?

I would imagine:

Someone that is just one immense bundle of pure love, acceptance and joy...

Someone who would forgive all I did wrong, understand me perfectly, hold me no matter what...

Someone I need never fear but instead a protector who sheltered me safely and put away all fear...

Someone of infinite peace who made me feel so comfortable in His presence, who always brought rest to my weary heart and comforted me in every way, who took care of me and made sure everything in my life worked out for the very best...

Someone who would be like the perfect parent, spouse and friend all wrapped up in one and magnified by infinity...

Someone who would love me like I'd always dreamed of being loved, who would never leave me...

Someone whom I couldn't drive away no matter what I did, who was committed to me no matter what, who would see me through to the end and make sure I'd be with Him forever!

Well, wouldn't God be more wonderful than any of those amazing thoughts? Yes, surely God is way beyond what we could ever ask or imagine! Surely He is infinitely better than we could ever dream! All the ideas you could imagine of the most wonderful, perfectly kind, gentle, accepting, protective, caring, friendly, joyful and peaceful and loyal Being of pure Love...multiplied by infinity...all that is just a tiny glimmer of the beauty of all God is for us and to us!! He is more wonderful and more loving and more accepting than we could ever imagine!

He is truly a Love beyond all imaginings!  Thank You Papa!  We couldn't have imagined a better Friend, a more loving Father, a more wonderful GOD than You are to us every moment!   Any time we have ever thought You to be any less than Perfect Love, it only meant that our vision was clouded by lies and confusion..for Your name is Love and Love is the ONLY expression of Your nature!  Thank You dear Papa and thank You dear Jesus for showing us this very thing in the incarnation, the cross and the resurrection..You revealed the Father's face in Your very own face, and what was revealed is that God, our Papa, is Love and ONLY Love, and that we are His beloved little children!  And thank You Holy Spirit for making that love a real experience in our lives!

Falling in Love with Grace All Over Again

I feel that lately, I am falling in love with Grace all over again, as it hits me in a new way, that beautiful old message that sounds so fresh and new...that I am accepted, that my life is accepted, that everyone is accepted, that ALL is accepted, unconditionally, eternally, radically accepted!

All is accepted, so I can accept myself and my life as they are right now, in this moment, without any requirement or pressure for change..

I feel like Papa is opening my eyes all over again to see that right now, everything is okay, I am okay, life is okay...everything really is perfect somehow...what a wonderful feeling it gives, don't you think?

And it allows me to actually enjoy this moment without feeling pressured to change.  To just BE!

I feel like I am also realizing my oneness with God in a deeper and more profound way, that we are truly ONE, that I am like a little bit of God in this human body, just feeling so whole and free and expansive knowing that the deepest truest self down deep in me, my real Self, is really one with and somehow part of God my Father - one!

It makes me feel so complete and whole and strong, so good about myself!  If I am really one with Him like that, then at the most fundamental level, I don't really have any problems, do I!?  I don't have any faith problems, love problems, issues to work on, or deficiencies..I don't have any insurmountable difficulties, overwhelming troubles or empty places..for I am one with infinite perfect Love, I am so whole!

And it makes me feel so good about other people..that they are all perfect expressions of God as well!  They don't need changing, fixing, or improving, they simply need to hear, as we all do, the wonderful message of grace - that all is accepted, loved, held, and carried by the One Lover who is the heart of all!  All is whole, complete, perfect and deep-down okay and all right in the One who makes everything all right!

Isn't grace wonderful?  I feel it takes my breath away again and again, like a fresh breeze on a steamy summer day..or a child's bright laughter..or the way the sunlight dances on the glowing leaves of autumn..Thank You Papa for being Grace through and through, a grace that holds us through it all, accepts us through it all, carries us through it all, so that we can know that at the deepest level, everything is alright, and nothing can change that!

Wonderful, magical Grace!

Jesus Dispelled the Lies!

Jesus came to show us the truth, to do away with lies that had confused us for too long, lies of unworthiness, shame and alienation, lies of unlovableness and inherent badness.  He came to dispel the lies we'd believed, to show us those thoughts and feelings of separation were only in our mind!  "You were alienated from God in your MINDS."  The reconciliation Jesus worked was bringing our mind back to seeing reality, wasn't it, because HE never left, and we only thought we did!  It was a reconciliation of the mind, really, for we've always been together in reality.

Confused thoughts and lies trapped us in a way of life thinking we were far from God, when really He was in us all along, waiting to be known and enjoyed!  Paul spoke of the day he saw the truth of God's presence in him, saying:  "It pleased God to reveal Christ IN me."  IN!  The wonderful truth is that we have always been IN God and He IN us, wow!  The separation was only in our mind all this time, never something real!

Even when we acted out our deep fears stemming from the mind's belief in being a separated, shameful, unlovable, 'bad' person, even when we acted on those fears and doubts and killed God's own Son, He showed us the truth, didn't He, by forgiving us, saying we didn't know what we were doing!

That is perfect LOVE, unconditional Love, Love that embraces the worst thing we could do!  At our worst moment, He loved us..He proved His love by the cross..He showed us we were always lovable, always beloved, always cherished by the Father!  We had thought we were unloved, unlovable..and the cross did away with this lie!  The cross proved how loved we were and are, as if He were saying, "You can do your worst and I'll still love you..You can even kill me and I'll still LOVE YOU!"

And He came out of the grave, basically erasing our crime - ! - without a mention of our wrongdoing, as if to say, "I always knew you were innocent, I always knew you were good!"

He always knew we were God's children, HE was always our core nature, we always had our Father God's DNA of goodness and love, we just didn't know it..we forgot..our minds were deceived and we fell into transgression..in our minds!  But not in reality, for we could never change our DNA, never stop being in God's perfect image and likeness of LOVE!  It was always there inside us all along, the Great Heart of Love was always beating deep within us, loving us, being Pure Love, in us, as our very DNA!  We were encoded with God/Love all along!  Jesus came along and confirmed that even if we acted totally contrary to that nature, that DNA, it was still true deep down!

He declared us innocent by the resurrection, wow!  And He confirmed our purity by unleashing the Holy Spirit, rivers of living water that had been pent up in us for so long rushed forth 'from within our innermost being!'  Where He had been all along!

I love how Jesus nailed to the cross every belief we ever had in every lie that ever existed..through His death and resurrection He did away with every lie that ever held us back from enjoying what is rightfully ours by birthright - the right of the children to enjoy their Papa's lap, to hear His voice of tenderness, to feel His warm embrace and KNOW Him in joyful relationship..safe at Home in HIM, where we've always belonged!

Safely IN!

IN!  It just doesn't get any closer than IN!  No matter what we are going through, no matter what long and winding side pathways we wander into here on our earth journey, we are safely IN God at all times, no matter what, and our relationship with Him, being so close that we are IN each other - ! - is always perfect, complete, whole, intact, full, perfect and strong!  Never wavering or changing!

We can't get Him out of us, and we can't get ourselves out of Him..we are IN, IN, IN!  There is just no separation with IN..there is no distance, no waiting for some future closer relationship..it is NOW, for we are closer than close, more intimate than 'beside' or 'with' - we are IN!

We never were out of the One who contains the whole universe, were we?  The distance we 'felt' was really only that, a feeling.  The separation we dreamed was between us was really only that, a dream.  The thought of being away from Him was really only that, a thought.  The sense of lostness was really only that, a sense we had and not real at all.  Did we really think our Papa would lose us, or that He would ever leave it up to us to 'find' our way back?  Did we really think He would ever for a moment not have the whole matter of our existence safely in His hand?  Did we ever really think He did not have things safely in His love plan all along, have US safely in His heart all along?  We have always been so safe in Him and His love!  He can't let us go!  He can't let YOU go, can't let ME go..

He cannot get us out of His mind, out of His thoughts, out of His heart!  He cannot imagine a world without us in it!  He wouldn't want to even exist without us!  His heart would break at the thought, for He cannot bear to BE without us even for a moment.  We have always been the objects of His care and keeping and love, and always will be!

We are so safely enveloped in His being, so tenderly held in His heart, so gently embraced in His arms!  The giant, enormous, wonderful God of Love who explodes beyond the bounds of this universe has got all of us so safely enfolded in His loving Being!  We are held against the chest of the Lover who fills the whole of creation, wrapped in eternal Infinite Love that stretches beyond all our past, present and future.  We are uplifted and carried along by a Love big enough to handle all our issues, confusions and doubts, big enough to contain all our fears and troubles and questions, big enough to carry all our pains, sorrows and remorses.  We are surrounded by a Loving Acceptance large enough to accept us with all our failures, inconsistencies and deceits.  A Love big enough to contain ALL!  ALL!

Nothing we do, say, think or feel could ever take us out of Him, make this Love evaporate, cause a breach between us.  This Love is our atmosphere, the space we exist in, the air we breath and the realm our whole life is played out in!  "In Him we live, and move, and have our being."  This Love is the DNA of the universe, the code upon which all existence is based.  We can no more escape this Love than we can escape our own DNA!  It is so true that "God is all, and is in all!"

So how could we ever be out of Him?
And how could we ever get Him out of us?

IN!  IN HIM!  What a wonderful  place to find ourselves, what a wonderful place to live in, what a wonderful home for us, what a wonderful Being to BE IN!

May the amazing grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, and the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. 2 Co. 13:14
