"It is God's will that we take His behests (promises) and His comfortings as largely and as mightily as we may take them, and also He willeth that we take our abiding and our troubles as lightly as we may take them, and set them at nought."
Julian of Norwich (Ch. 64)
Often our problems, troubles and anxieties can loom so large to us that they take up the whole field of our vision. But God's will is that His promises, comfortings and reassurances take up the whole field of our vision. That is the truth, after all. God is far bigger than any problem. His power, goodness and wisdom is far greater than anything we face and can certainly handle anything we face. Our problems can be so gigantic to us, yet they are small to God. So Christ keeps reassuring us, reminding us of His good promises. He keeps on working in our hearts, calling to us in love, turning our eyes to Him, so we can rest in Him and His strength, wisdom and love. For not one of His promises has ever failed, His love has never failed us, He has never failed us...and He never will. With Him we get the right perspective, a heavenly perspective, and we find rest for our troubled souls.
He promises that all things will work together for good for us.
He promises that we are more than conquerors through Him.
He promises a coming glory that will dwarf any problem we have.
He promises never to leave or forsake us.
He promises to strengthen, help, and uphold us.
He promises that His peace will guard our heart and mind.
He promises that we can do all things through Him.
He promises to be our refuge where we are safe.
He promises good things for us beyond our imagining.
How wonderful to be reassured by our God, who is faithful to keep all His promises to us!
The Lord your God has done everything that he promised you he would do. Deep inside yourselves, you know that is true. He has not failed to do even one thing that he promised.
Joshua 23:14 (EASY)
A Prayer: Remind me of how good You are at taking care of me. Let me see my situations from Your perspective.
