"It is God's will that we know that He hath not forgotten us."
Julian of Norwich (Ch. 64)
When we are hurting, scared, going through hardship, feeling lost and troubled, anxious or alone, it can feel that God has forgotten us. The feeling of His presence seems to have left and God seems to be miles away. We can wonder if He has turned His back on us, if the troubles we are going through are some kind of punishment or discipline because we didn't pray or believe or do "enough," and we can feel alone and forsaken. But it is God's will for us to know He has not forgotten us! He sees us, He knows what we are going through, and He is right here with us experiencing the pain and hurt alongside of us. And He is at work. He is working out His plan for good. It hasn't been thwarted. We haven't disqualified ourselves or made Him reject us, for that cannot even happen with such a love that God has for us! Nothing could drive Him away. He is here to stay, unfailingly committed to us, loyal no matter what, taking care of us always, our constant Companion and Helper and Friend. Whatever we are going through, He already has the solution. He already has the answer. He IS the answer! He is bringing all that He is to all that we are going through, and that is more than enough. He is going to bring us out and will use all that goes on to propel us forward somehow. And all will be well. So no matter how we feel or what is happening, even if we caused the problems we are in, it doesn't matter. Earthly mothers may sometimes forget or be lacking in their care for their children, but our Mother God never will! Our faithful Mothering God never forgets us, the little children, and is always there with us, holding us, caring for us, bringing everything out for the best for us.
"The Lord answers, 'Can a woman forget the baby she nurses? Can she feel no kindness for the child she gave birth to? Even if she could forget her children, I will not forget you.'"
Isaiah 49:15 (ICB)
A Prayer: Thank You for never forgetting me.
