Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to my little online home...I have been overwhelmed by God's unconditional love and grace and enjoy writing about what God is teaching me... Blessings to you and have a great day!

Our Daily Grace: Loved, Not Condemned

"We expect criticism, what we receive is understanding. Instead of hearing words of condemnation, we hear over and over again, 'I love you.'"

Mike Yaconelli

"Jesus said, 'I do not condemn you..'"

John 8:11

He is compassionate, not vindictive.  He is gentle, not harsh.  He is accepting, not critical.  He is not inspecting us to find out our faults but is instead looking on us with understanding, sympathetic of all we're going through. He is everything we hoped He would be and so much more.  His love melts away our defenses and pours like cool water over our souls, healing us with kindness!

A thought: God is everything I need Him to be.

Our Daily Grace: Our Union

"Our union with God does not fluctuate.'

Dan Stone

"For God has said, 'I will never leave you; I will never abandon you."

Hebrews 13:5

We have been brought into the loving arms of God and made one with Him. He is in us and we are in Him, and this union is permanent.  God promises never to leave us or abandon us.  We are never alone and we are never on our own!

A thought: God is in me and I am in Him.

Our Daily Grace: Not Excluded

"Your personal inconsistencies, doubts, addictions and failures do not exclude you from God's pleasure."

Mike Yaconelli

"For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from His love."

Romans 8:38

We are totally welcomed by God, and no part of us is excluded. God takes all of us, with all of our weaknesses, struggles, doubts and troubles.  He embraces the whole of us in His unconditional love. Nothing we do or don't do will stop this warm embrace. We are truly safe in His arms.

A thought: God embraces all parts of me.

Our Daily Grace: He Likes You

"Jesus not only loves you, He likes you."

Mike Yaconelli

"He delights in every detail of their lives."

Psalm 37:23b

Sometimes it can be a struggle to find earthly friends who really enjoy our company and like us for who we are.  But Jesus is always that kind of friend!  He picks you as His friend, chooses you.  He loves to hang out with you, and He smiles when He thinks of you! He likes your personality, He likes your interests, He likes hearing your thoughts, He likes your inner hopes and dreams. He loves the way He made you with all your funny quirks and uniqueness.  He doesn't just love you, He truly likes you!

A thought: Jesus is the best friend I have ever had.

Our Daily Grace: No Struggle

"Christ isn't struggling with me! I can relax. No need to struggle myself."

Anne Cary

"For God in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through Him God reconciled everything to Himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ's blood on the cross."

Colossians 1:19-20

Christ isn't struggling with us or fighting with us.  He isn't disgusted with us or disappointed with us.  Christ is happy with us.  Christ is friendly towards us. Christ is at rest thinking of us. Christ is at peace with us!  Knowing He isn't struggling with us means we don't have to struggle with ourselves or beat ourselves up in self-hatred. We look into His eyes and all we see is love and friendship. There is such rest in that!

A thought: Christ is happy with me.

Our Daily Grace: Rest, Not Work

"I wish for one moment we could get 'deeds' out of our mind when we think of God and our relationship with Him."

Bertie Brits

"For those who enter God's rest also cease from their labors, as God did from His."

Hebrews 4:10

God calls us to rest.  The Christian life is a life of rest.  We can rest from our endless labors to be good enough, to make up for our failures enough, to meet the standard enough, to figure out enough...because HE has already done enough, suffered and atoned enough, been good enough, met all standards enough.  His work is perfect, so mine doesn't have to be.  HE is perfect, so I don't have to be! He takes care of everything in this Christian life! Let's rest in His arms, because nothing is required of us today.

A thought: God requires nothing of me.

Our Daily Grace: Blessed for Free

"Grace means we can blow it in the morning and get blessed in the afternoon!"

Francis George

"Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing.."

1 Peter 3:9

God's way is about blessing and kindness.  He asks us to repay evil with blessing because that is His way of grace and love.  Our behavior doesn't have any bearing on how God treats us.  He always treats us with love, concern, care, help and encouragement.  He always blesses.  It is that kindness of God in the midst of our failures that raises up our hearts in such a powerful way.  Since He will love and bless us in the midst of our worst failures, He will ALWAYS love and bless us!  What security there is in this truth!

A thought: God is always blessing me.

Our Daily Grace: Our Sins Are Gone

"Why focus on faults that God has dealt with satisfactorily in Him?  Why fix your eyes on what the Cross has redeemed and removed?"

Lydia Grewell

"But now He has appeared one time, at the end of the ages, for the removal of sin by the sacrifice of Himself."

Hebrews 9:26

Christ's sacrifice removed sin, put it away, did away with it!  It's gone, once and for all.  So we can stop agonizing over our sins and faults and start thinking about Jesus and His love for us!

A thought: My sins are gone.

Our Daily Grace: Light Overcomes Darkness

"Light overcomes darkness, not the other way around."

Joyce

"In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

John 1:4-5

Sometimes it seems the darkness is so strong.  But the light of Christ easily overcomes darkness, the love of Christ easily overcomes hatred, the joy of Christ easily overcomes despair.  As God told Catherine Marshall just before He healed her of sickness, "There's nothing here that I can't handle."

A thought: God easily overcomes the darkness.

Our Daily Grace: Always Gracious

"Amazing grace has always been God's way.  He's never done anything that hasn't involved grace!"

Joel Brueseke

"The Lord is gracious and full of compassion."

Psalm 111:4

God wasn't all about law in the Old Testament then suddenly all about grace in the New Testament.  He has always been full of grace and has always taken the initiative to care for, love, relate to and bless us all. People's behavior has never been an obstacle for God. He has always loved and helped us regardless of our successes or failures. He has never been vindictive, punishing, or judgmental.  He has always been friendly, accepting and forgiving.   He has been carrying us along all the time, helping us and showing kindness to us, and He will keep on carrying us, supporting us and blessing us to the end!

A thought:  God has always been full of grace.

Our Daily Grace: Trustworthy

"We have no reason NOT to trust the One who created us."

Kent Burgess

"..Perfect love drives out fear.."

1 John 4:18

Knowing He is perfect Love, purely kind, wholly good and gentle, makes it easier to trust Him.  He is only good; He has no "dark side."  He has never let us down and never will.  He will always come through for us in love and kindness and support.  He is the Love that never fails!

A thought: God has no dark side.

Our Daily Grace: Failure Makes No Difference

"With grace, failure doesn't make any difference."

David Seamands

"For by virtue of that one offering He has perfected for all time everyone whom He makes holy."

Hebrews 10:14

Grace is amazing! Since it's based, not on our works, but on Christ's perfect righteousness and perfect, once-for-all work, we are truly safe.  We can't mess this up! No failure, lack of faith, confusion, waywardness, struggle or defeat on our part could ever undo what Jesus did or change one iota of His righteousness, which is given to us.  What happens between us and God when we fail?  Nothing!  We are still perfect before Him and totally accepted.  We are still His children and still right with Him (righteous). Isn't grace so wonderful?

A thought: When I fail, I am still right with God through Jesus.

Our Daily Grace: Forgiven Before We Repent

"The Gospel is really vulgar, crass and immoral because it says that God forgives the world before it repents."

Robert Capon

"God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation."

2 Corinthians 5:19

Forgiveness - not counting people's sins against them.  That is what God did in Christ!  It's so mind-blowing to think of how He forgave the whole world before any of us repented, before we confessed, before we believed, and before you or I were even born.  We can share the message of this reconciliation, that God holds nothing against people, that there is nothing between us and God, that His arms are open wide to embrace us all!

A thought: There is nothing between me and God.

Our Daily Grace: Focused on His Love

"We focus on His love for us, not on "trying to love."

Brennan Manning

"Lord, let You constant love surround us, for our hopes are in You alone."

Psalm  33:22

No more struggling, no more endless trying to love. No more feeling that we are never good enough. Instead, just resting in HIS love that is perfect.  Just falling back into the arms that will never let us go!

A thought: His love will never let me go.

Our Daily Grace: Blameless

"Christ is the END of BLAME for us!"

Sherri Minker

"Yet now He has reconciled you to Himself through the death of Christ in His physical body. As a result, He has brought you into His presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault."

Colossians 1:22

Holy and blameless, without a single fault!  As holy, blameless and faultless before God as Jesus Himself is!  That's what Christ has brought forth; that's who we are.  There is nothing wrong with you; there is everything right with you!

A thought: I stand before God blameless and holy.

Our Daily Grace: God's Treasure

"You are a beautiful work of art, God's treasure.  He is with you, in every breath.  I hope you enjoy every minute with Him as much as He enjoys you."

Rebecca Armstrong

"You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord's hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God."

Isaiah 62:3

We can look at ourselves and only see flaws and failures.  God looks at us and only sees works of art to treasure!  What a great thought, that God enjoys us!  He loves looking at us, being with us, spending time with us, laughing at our jokes. He loves our company!  You are His little treasure, and He wouldn't want to spend His day any other way than by your side.

A thought: I am a treasure to God.

Our Daily Grace: Knowing Christ

"The goal of the Christian life is not to stop sinning!  The real goal of the Christian life is knowing Christ."

Bob George

"This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."

John 17:3

This eternal life we have been given is not about stopping sin, feeling guilty for not being better, and trying harder to become holier.  This Christian life is about knowing Him!

That's enough, just to know Him.  To walk with Him through every day in friendship and love.  To join in the cosmic love dance of the Trinity.  To look into the eyes that have been gazing on us forever.  To know a love that won't ever leave us or let us go.  To be delighted in as a child in God's arms.

Simply to know Him IS eternal life, a fountain of life welling up with eternal joys, a wellspring of life that never will run dry!

A thought: Knowing Him is true life!

Our Daily Grace: Unfailing Love

"God's love will never fail you."

Jamie Weeks

"Love..always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails."

1 Corinthians 13:7-8

Others have failed us.  And we have failed ourselves.  But He and His love will never fail us.  It will always be there, always accept us, always hold us, always carry us, always succeed for us, for all eternity.

He will not let you down!

A thought: God's love will always surround me.

Our Daily Grace: Righteous

"I am the righteousness of Christ.  And the Court of Heaven will back me up.  Heaven's got my back, what a thought!"

Lydia Grewell

"No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you will condemn.

This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me, says the Lord."

Isaiah 54:17

We are righteous with the pure and perfect righteousness of Christ!  No accusation can stand against that righteousness!  No shame, self-hatred, or despair can succeed against it!  You are righteous - right with God - through Jesus' finished work.  Never see yourself as dirty or unclean or lacking before God again!

A thought: God is on my side against all accusations!

Our Daily Grace: Loved, Not Punished

"We were created by God to be loved, not punished."

Joel Brueseke

"Long before He laid down Earth's foundations, He had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of His love, to be made whole and holy by His love."

Ephesians 1:4

God has only good thoughts toward us.  His thoughts are from eternity past and have always been love.  God didn't create people to punish them, crush them, harm them or condemn them.  He created people to love them.  Like any good parent, He loved His kids long before they were even born.  Let's see ourselves wrapped in His love, cradled in His arms!

A thought: My purpose is to be loved by God.

Our Daily Grace: Christ Our Life

"The life I live in the body, I don't!"

Rob Rufus

"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

Galatians 2:20

We don't face anything alone; HE faces everything for us, in us, through us.  Christ is my life.  I don't have to worry about living the Christian life.  Christ naturally lives the Christian life, and that's who is living in me, as me! There is such a peace in knowing that rivers of Living Water are flowing out of us, completely adequate for anything!

A thought: Christ is naturally living out of me today.

Our Daily Grace: No Condemnation

"God's voice is not on the frequency of condemnation."

Joseph Prince

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."

John 3:17

God doesn't kick or demean people when they are down...He doesn't leave them feeling worse...He lifts up and saves people when they are down!  We may condemn ourselves and others may condemn us, but there's no condemnation coming to us from God.  Jesus wasn't called the Condemner; He is called the Savior!

A thought: God always makes me feel better, not worse.

Our Daily Grace: Restoring, Not Shaming

"God is in the business of restoring people, not labeling people."

Darin Hufford

"You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head."

Psalm 3:3

He doesn't want to put us down so that we hang our heads in shame.  He wants to lift us up so that we hold our heads high in joy!  God is not about bruising and breaking: God is about soothing and healing!

A thought: God always lifts me up.

Our Daily Grace: Love Beyond Reason

"God never loved you for a reason."  Wayne Jacobsen

"He loved us not to get something from us but to give everything of Himself to us."

Ephesians 5:1

He doesn't need some reason to love us and He has no agenda in His love.  He just loves us for free!  Like any good parent, He just loves His kids. And "His kids" includes all of His created ones. As Paul told the people of Athens, "We are the offspring of God." Acts 17:29

A thought: God is a good Dad to me!

Our Daily Grace: Loving Ourselves

"It's alright to love who God loves: YOU!"

Elaine

"I have loved you with an everlasting love."

Jeremiah 31:3

It's godly to love ourselves, not hate ourselves!  It's godly to be gentle, kind and understanding with ourselves. We are to love all who God loves, and God loves each of us!  For God so loved "the World" - that includes all of us.

A thought: I am loved by God so I can love myself.

Our Daily Grace: Delight

"God is happy with what He made: us!"

Susannah St. John

"The Lord delights in you!"

Isaiah 62:4

We are not a cause of disgust or disappointment to Him but always a delight to Him!  He is crazy about His kids!  He's so proud of us all.  As a billboard I saw once said:  "Your picture is on God's refrigerator."

A thought:  I am special to God.

Our Daily Grace: Joy

"Everything God says is designed to bring us into joy."  Graham Cooke

"I have spoken these things to you so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete."

John 15:11

His plan for us is always unceasing joy!  He is a merry, laughing, smiling God and He is bringing us into His joy and happiness. Everything leads to the eternal joy that IS Christ in us!

A thought: God's joy is in me today.

I Have Lived in the Goodness of God (CeCe Winans)

What a beautiful song!  He has always been faithful to love us and be there for us.  He has always been so good to us, all through our lives!

Lyrics:
I love You, Lord
For Your mercy never fails me
All my days, I've been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

'Cause all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
In darkest night You are close like no other
I've known You as a Father
I've known You as a Friend
And I have lived in the goodness of God, yeah

'Cause all my life You have been faithful, oh yes You have
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

Your goodness is running after, it's running after me
Your goodness is running after, it's running after me
With my life laid down, I surrendered now
I give You everything, oh Lord
Your goodness is running after, it's running after me
Your goodness is running after, it's running after me (oh yeah, oh yeah)
Your goodness is running after, it's running after me
With my life laid down, I surrendered now
I give You everything
Your goodness is running after, it keeps running after me

And all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I'm gonna sing of the goodness of God

On My Good Days and My Bad Days, I'm Always Child of God ("I'm So Blessed" by Cain the Band)

My daughter introduced me to this great song by Cain the Band.  It's such a great reminder that no matter what, we are God's children and we are so blessed because we have Him!

"Cause on my best day, I'm a child of God

On my worst day, I'm a child of God

Oh, Every day is a good day

And You're the reason why

"I'm so blessed, I'm so blessed

Got this heartbeat in my chest

No, it doesn't matter about the rest

If I got You, Lord, I'm so blessed"

We Love You, God!

To the One who created a world for us,

To the One who breathed His own life into us,

To the One who loves to be with us,

We love You, Papa!

To the One who knows all about us,

To the One who thinks we're beautiful,

To the One who calls us His own children,

We love You, Papa!

To the One who took on flesh for us,

To the One who came Himself to rescue us,

To the One who couldn't bear to be without us,

We love You, Jesus!

To the One who came into our pain with us,

To the One who felt all our anguish with us,

To the One who even gave His own life for us,

We love You, Jesus!

To the One who forever lives inside of us,

To the One who fights against fear for us,

To the One who speaks truth in us,

We love You, Holy Spirit!

To the One who is ever close to us,

To the One who is always a Friend to us,

To the One who constantly empowers us,

We love You, Holy Spirit!

To the One who is always there for us,

To the One who never lets go of us,

To the One who will never fails us,

We love You, God!

To the One who will work everything out for us,

To the One who will heal every hurt in us,

To the One who has heaven waiting for us,

We love You, God!

God Answers Our Prayers, Even at Our Lowest and Most "Unworthy" Moments

There was a time a few years ago when I lost several close family members.  During my grieving time, I felt like I was wandering aimlessly.  Often, I didn't pray or seek God.  Sometimes I even doubted if He was there at all.  I certainly felt like a 'bad Christian' at this time in many ways, and not very spiritual at all.  Yet right when I started praying again and asking God for help in a crisis that came up, He was right there for me, with His peace, and help, and presence!

It's interesting to me that even at my most unworthy, unrighteous, unfaithful moments, when I ask God for help He is always right there and answers my prayer.  He answers my prayer even if I'm not doing all the right things, or even believing all the right things!

It is just like the scripture says, "Call unto Me, and I will answer you."  It doesn't say only if you are righteous, only if you confess all sin, only if you have good works and right motives, only if you have faith, only if you have trusted Christ, only if you are appropriating the righteousness of Christ...it just says "CALL for help!  I WILL answer!"

Why does God answer our prayers?  Is is because we have done or believed enough?  We can admit that we aren't 'enough' in faith or in deeds when it comes right down to it.

Well, is it just because of Christ, as if God can only stand to look at us or hear us if we put a Jesus mask over our ugly face or poor deeds?  Of course it is great that we have been given the righteousness of Christ, but now I'm thinking that was done more to help US to feel more confident in God's presence, not to make GOD more comfortable in ours!  After all, Jesus was quite comfortable walking around on Earth with sinners, befriending them and eating with them, even dying for them!

So why does God answer our prayers?

Why is He there for us, even if we've been wandering away from Him for years?

Why does He still listen, and help, and care, and support, and strengthen and give?

It's because HE LOVES US!

I guess we will never come to the end of that love, or even begin to understand a small fraction of that love.

We are His created children, 'His offspring,' and He just plain loves us.

He says that we are enough to be loved, just by being His creation.  God so loved THE WORLD!

We are worth it, we have dignity and we matter, without having to do or believe anything.

We already ARE loved by God.

We don't have to do or be anything to be loved and helped by God!

He already IS loving us, IS helping us!

And He is graciously helping and carrying us even when we don't pray, even when we fail to turn to Him.  He NEVER fails us!  Grace doesn't even wait for us to come, to ask, to pray...Grace just carries and supports us no matter what!

He is pure Grace and He is always there, always caring, always supporting, always working!

And HE is enough!

Enough to hold all our worries, fears, doubts, confusion, rebellion, wandering and error.

Enough to hold all our concern, care, petition, needs and weakness.

Enough to hold all our problems, all our family and friends, all our past, present and future, all our life!

He loves us, and He is enough to handle all that concerns us today.

He is enough.  At our highest moments, and at our lowest moments.

And that is enough for everything!

He Has Us in His Heart...

He has us in His heart,

in the eternal realm -

where there isn't any failure,

where there isn't any shame,

where there isn't any pressure to perform,

where we have never done anything wrong and never will,

where we have never been wounded and never will,

where we are safe and secure,

where we are accepted unconditionally,

where we are pure and sweet and beloved,

where there is no stress,

where there is no struggle,

where there is no worry about doing right and avoiding wrong,

where there is no need to become because we just ARE,

where everything just IS,

where we will forever BE our true selves -

the unconditionally loved children of God,

in sweet communion with Him,

filled with His fullness of LIFE and LOVE and LIGHT!

THAT'S where we are!

Christ is Our Memory and Epiphany - the Teaching of John Scotus Eriugena

One of the greatest teachers in the Celtic world, John Scotus Eriugena in ninth-century Ireland, also taught that Christ is our memory.

We suffer from the “soul’s forgetfulness,” he says.

Christ comes to reawaken us to our true nature.

He is our epiphany.

He comes to show us the face of God.

He comes to show us also our face, the true face of the human soul.

This leads the Celtic tradition to celebrate the relationship between nature and grace.

Instead of grace being viewed as opposed to our essential nature or as somehow saving us from ourselves, nature and grace are viewed as flowing together from God.

They are both sacred gifts.

The gift of nature, says Eriugena, is the gift of “being”; the gift of grace, on the other hand, is the gift of “well-being.”

Grace is given to reconnect us to our true nature.

At the heart of our being is the image of God, and thus the wisdom of God, the creativity of God, the passions of God, the longings of God.

Grace is opposed not to what is deepest in us but to what is false in us.

It is given to restore us to the core of our being and to free us from the unnaturalness of what we are doing to one another and to the earth.

-from Christ of the Celts

God's Focus - Not on Our Behavior, But on His Love for Us

I was reading this morning in my grace devotional and I came across this thought: I wish we could get behavior out of our minds when we think about our relationship with God.

That really stuck with me and I want to ponder it more. I have focused on my behavior so much when it comes to my relationship with God. I have thought that God focused on my behavior, too. I have imagined Him shaking His head at me in disappointment, wishing I could just do better, pray more, have more faith, increase in holiness, etc. etc. etc!

But what if God isn't focusing on my works or deeds or behavior at all? What if He is just focusing on how much He loves me?

I really believe that is a big part of the grace message of God to us - that He is not all about behavior and works. That He is all about love and grace. That He loves us regardless of our behavior and without any reference to whether we ever improve or not!

Recently a wonderful blessing came to our extended family. On my husband's side of the family there is a young man who married a lovely girl. For ten years they waited, hoped, prayed and wished for a baby. But a baby never came for all those long years. Then finally, this year a miracle occurred and they found out they were expecting a baby! You can imagine the tears of relief and joy they had! And just a few days ago, they welcomed their beautiful baby boy into this world! The baby is beautiful, a tiny perfect human being with a sweet little expression and lovely dark hair. The photos they posted of them holding this little one, wearing caps that said "Dad" and "Mom" just made tears come to my eyes.

And I started imagining how much that baby is already cherished and loved! It has been prayed for, wished for, hoped for, dreamed for..for so many long years. Finally the hopes and dreams have come to pass and the baby is now in their arms. They have many years of love stored up for this little one, and all they want to do is pour out their love on this little guy, hold him, rock him, spend time studying his every feature, singing to him, and just smiling at him! They probably don't want to put him down, but just hold him every second!

And I realized, that must be how God sees all of us! He has waited for the moment we would be created and born, has dreamed of us and brought us into existence. All He wants to do is pour out His love on us! All He wants to do is hold us in His arms and sing to us! All He wants to do is take care of us, cherish us, nurture us, and spend all His time with us!

I can't imagine my relatives worrying about their baby's behavior! It's a joke to even think such a thing! It's not on their mind whether he will be good enough, smart enough, behave well enough, or obey them enough to please them! Their minds aren't on his behavior, they are just on how much they love him. And I really believe that is the way God feels about us, too. He sees us as His dear little ones, babes in His arms, and His mind isn't on our behavior, it's just on how much He loves us!

I think about that new little baby. He hasn't even had time to DO any behaving, obeying, trusting, yielding or performing yet! But he is still loved in such a big way. I believe that is the same with God and us. He loves us apart from our behavior and without reference to any behavior! God isn't concerned with that, He isn't judging us, He isn't demanding some amazing behavior from us. He is just loving us.

And out of that love He is being there for us, He is helping us, He is blessing us, He is caring for us, whether we ever perform well or not.  His love and care come to us not because we have perfect behavior, or perfect motivations, or even perfect faith. Not with reference to anything coming from us at all! Just like any parent loves and takes care of their little one, not because the child made that happen in some way, but just because that's their beloved child!

Let's accept that, let's bask in that love, let's give ourselves a break and love ourselves! Let's relax in the arms that are holding us and see His smile towards us! Daddy is cherishing us and always will. We will always be infinitely loved by Him and we will always be in His arms!

Beautiful things I want to remember:

You are the child God always wanted.

God loves you without reference to anything you DO.

You simply ARE His beloved, cherished child.

He is happy with the way He made you!

You can love and cherish yourself, as God does.

See His eyes of love on you and feel His arms holding you.

You are beautiful to God and He is so proud to be your Dad!

Things to Remember..

It has been so long since I wrote anything here on my little blog!  But I am thankful to have this blog and am so thankful for all the things God teaches me about grace every single day.  Life is so precious and I am so thankful for each day to enjoy my life with family and friends and God!  To any readers who happen by, many blessings of love, peace, joy and grace to you in this precious life!

I was writing a list of good things to remember for a young friend of mine who is struggling with self-doubt and feelings of not being 'good enough' as a Christian.  I can relate so much to those feelings.  I lived with them for years and still struggle with them from time to time.  So I made this list for my friend and for me and wanted to share it here, too.  It's so good to go over these wonderful truths of God's love and acceptance and grace!

Things to Remember:

-God is pleased with me no matter how I think or act.

-No matter what I may do wrong, Jesus already died for that and it's already forgiven and gone.

-I'm always 100% clean and pure before God because Jesus washed all my sins away long ago at the cross.

-I don't have to try to do better or be a better Christian.  Jesus already did all the necessary 'performing' for me, and He was perfect!

-I am righteous, for Jesus gave me His own righteousness.  So I am always 'all right with God.'

-I can never get any closer to God, any better before God, or any more loved by God than I am right now!

-I am good, innocent, kind and pure because God made me that way as a new creation, with a pure heart inside.

-God is taking care of everything that concerns me, so I don't have to handle it all on my own.  It's not all up to me, it's all up to God.

-Even if I doubt, fail, or even turn away from God, He will never change toward me.  He will always love me and be right there beside me.

-I am beautiful to God, one of a kind, a work of art - His masterpiece!

-I am perfect to God right now, just as I am.

-I'm already all I was ever meant to be - God's innocent, beautiful, beloved child.  No changes needed or required!

-God is not demanding that I improve or 'do' anything.  God asks nothing of me.  He just wants to love on me and be my Friend.

-Friends are always there for each other, and God will always be there for me and have my back.

-God is right there inside me at all times, and I am right there inside God at all times. Our spirits are in union.  You can't get any closer than that!

-I am 100% loved and accepted by God, and nothing I do and nothing that happens can ever change that fact!

-God says I am a winner in His book!  He says I am His favorite!  He says that I am worth it!

-Right now, Jesus is carrying me through it all, the Holy Spirit is strengthening me through it all, and the Father is loving me through it all.  Because of Him, I am invincible!

-There has never been a moment when I have been out of His care, and there never will be.

-God already wrote the end of my story with Him, and 'they lived happily ever after!'

Chrysostom on Christ Overthrowing the devil and hell at the Resurrection

[Quote from] the fourth century Archbishop of Constantinople, John Chrysostom and his sermon on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. What a powerful declaration of what Jesus did:
By descending into Hell, Jesus made Hell captive.
Isaiah foretold this when he said:
Hell was angered, when it encountered Christ.
It was angered for it was abolished.
It was angered, for it was mocked.
It was angered, for it was defeated.
It was angered for it was overthrown.
It was angered, for it was now fettered in chains….
Christ is risen, and the devil and hell are overthrown.
Christ is risen, and the demons are fallen.
Christ is risen, and the Angels rejoice.
Christ is risen, and life reigns.
Christ is risen, and not one dead will remain in the grave,
For Christ has become the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep”.

The Year Outside of Time

I kept a journal during the pandemic.  Because our daughter has a health issue that made her at greater risk if she got COVID, we chose to be extra-careful and basically didn't leave our property for a year.

It was like a year out of time.  Everything stopped and all our senses were heightened to the everyday things we so easily missed before in our rushed lives.  The flowers seemed to have such a long blooming season, but it wasn't really that they bloomed longer - it was just that we had slowed down enough to actually 'stop and smell the roses' every day!

We enjoyed nature more, we relished many walks in the woods, we spent time together, we did homey things, life became so quiet and basic and slow.  We adopted stray kittens.  We read books aloud.  We put up a swing in a backyard tree. We had a skunk on our porch.  We discovered K-Dramas and laughed and cried through them together. We watched the snowflakes fall and walked in the snowy woods. We had new bird species come to the birdbath (hello, Summer Tanager!). We saw a blue moon.

We were grateful to be safe and be together. God took care of us.  It was a terrible year yet it was a wonderful year!

I wanted to write down some of the verses and quotes that I put in my journal, that helped me get through that year when I felt so anxious and scared at times:

"The Lord will save us." Isaiah 33:22

"All my days I've been held in Your arms; You are close like no other.  I've known You as a Father, I've known You as a Friend.  All my life You have been faithful; I have lived in the goodness of God."  Chris Quilala

"In every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks." John Muir

"Fear not, for I am with you and will bless you." Genesis 26:24

"Hope has a name - Emmanuel!  Light of the world who broke through the darkness."

"Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them." 2 Kings 6:16

"God has no problems, only plans. There is no panic in heaven." Corrie ten Boom

"For with God, nothing shall be impossible!" Luke 1:37

"Learn from the flowers. Every day is a new opportunity to experience, to grow toward the light."

"Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with me."

Q and A about Our True Identity

This Q and A (with Colin Lagerwall on facebook) on our true identity helped me so much, I wanted to post it here so I can refer to it and ponder these wonderful new truths:

Sparrow: Was the New Man always my real self? Or was the old nature my real nature, and then Christ gave me the new one? I am so trying to understand, having been taught in a traditional way, that I was bad and evil to the core, and then when I believed, Christ came and He was the only good thing about me, even as a Christian, always seeing myself with a low and shameful self-concept..Was the 'old man' my real self before I believed or was it just an illusion, is that what we mean when say false identity, that it never was the real 'us'? Are we saying we were always good or always compatible with God, just didn't know it? Can someone help me, I am trying to unpack the idea of what it really means to be in God's image and likeness..I was always taught it meant that we were rational and spiritual beings..does it also mean good, not evil, at the core? Connected to God? Did we lose that and then Christ restored it to all, or was it only that we thought we lost it, had a darkened mindset through sin, and now we see who we have always been since Christ took away the mindset of sin?
Just trying to figure out which self is the real one, and have I always been good at heart because in His image, and that was covered up by lies?
Or was I totally bad and evil and Jesus had to come kill me off and start over and make me good?
Colin Lagerwall: The lost coin that the widow looked for never lost it's value, neither changed it's shape, the lost sheep was a whole sheep, just as valuable and 'sheepish' as the 'found', the lost boy in the far country was a son in all his sonness, he was just not aware of who he was and the love of his father (he came to himself, the bible says, he saw who he was)
When Jesus was asked about paying taxes, he held up a coin and said 'Who's inscription is on this coin ....give Caesar what belongs to him, and give God what belongs to him, speaking of the image and likeness of God in man'
Sparrow: That is beautiful...that helps me, Colin Lagerwall...we were always valuable, beloved, worth so much in God's eyes, we never stopped being His own because HE made us, right? What about image and likeness, does that mean inherent goodness? Were we always good at the core, through it all, just didn't know it? I don't know why I am so hung up on wondering if we are inherently having goodness at the core, or as Fay says, a core made of Love, right? I need to know that or understand it...I was always taught we were bad at the core, with a sin nature, and Jesus had to root that out and make us good..??
Colin Lagerwall: God calls us to see ourselves as He sees us, valuable, precious, beautiful, .... just as He made us ... We get bent out of shape as we grow up, not knowing His view of us, so we adopt a foreign 'father', or a foreign assessment of ourselves, we get to see ourselves as 'the ugly duckling', which we never were , we are always his much loved sons and daughters ... The Spirit (of Love and Truth) changes that ugly duckling view to what is true, as he has always seen us
These ugly duckling views get very deeply ingrained in us, we develop definite 'identities' that we live by, and these identities are not who we are, they are a kind of 'persona' that we develop, ad this 'persona' is what begins to crumble and 'vanish' as we see more and more the way He looks at us ..... and yes, we do sometimes hold tight onto this false image, because it is the only life we have ever known, and it sometimes needs to be pried out our hands ...
Sparrow: Yes, that is so..the thought/false identity 'seems' to be so truly me and yet, the more I focus on my identity in Christ, it does fall away and freedom comes!..I was thinking about it and just feeling God's presence over me and the thoughts came to me that there wasn't anything inherently wrong with the human race, only that we were infected with this false mindset of separation and inferiority and etc., and this caused lots of problems, but Jesus killed that off at the cross - HE wasn't saying we were bad and needed to die but that we were infected with poison and the poison needed to be removed, and that happened through death..so we could rise up with Him our clean and beautiful selves, now not infected anymore, now healthy and strong and released from the prison of sin sickness, fear, loneliness, and other dark feelings..almost like a mentally ill person being cured and discovering who they really are for the first time...?
Colin Lagerwall: Exactly !
Sparrow: I finally start to see it!! Wow...I praise God so much right now! The good news just keeps getting better and better! I want to just bask in this amazing truth!
Colin Lagerwall: The ugly duckling was never a duck, but a beautiful swan all along
Sparrow: Was always a swan, never an ugly duck..what a relief!
We were made by Love, in Love, as Love, for Love! Evil was always a false identity, Love was always our true identity..for we are in the image and likeness of God, and God IS Love, so since His Spirit is at our core, for He breathed His Spirit in to give us life, Love is at our core! That wonderful divine substance that made us never stopped being there, it is the image on the coin that never was removed no matter how much dirt from the outside world coated it or hid it from view! Thus the gospel is 'Christ in you, the hope of glory!

A Prayer (On Reading Julian of Norwich)

A Prayer (on reading Julian of Norwich)

Tell me again the tale of Love's compassion

For all of us who fall into the mire,

How He is wounded with us, how His Passion

Quickens the love that haunted our desire.

Show me again the wonder of at-one-ment

Of Christ in us distinct and yet the same,

Who makes, and loves, and keeps us at each moment,

and looks on us with pity not with blame.

Keep telling me, for all my faith my waver,

Love is His meaning, only Love, forever.

We Already Are

All that ever needed to be done, Jesus did.

All that we ever needed to be, Jesus made us.

All that relationship with God was meant to be, Jesus gave us.

We have His finished work as ours, His wholeness as ours, His relationship with the Father as ours! As He is, so are we!

Grace tells us that all we've ever wanted to be, we already are... and all we've ever hoped for our relationship with God to be, we already have. Law says become, achieve, strain, try, attain...but Grace says rest because you already ARE complete and everything already IS fine!

We are already home with Papa, sitting in His lap, held in His arms of love..there is nowhere to try to get to, nothing we need to do, no goal we have to reach or 'great spiritual person' we have to become. We are already complete and perfect and securely in His arms, His beloved children so safe and sound, home forever in His loving presence!
May the amazing grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, and the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. 2 Co. 13:14
